“We’re incredibly thankful for the CDC’s consideration and support during the last year. As we all know, the pandemic made it difficult for new grads and youth to secure full-time employment.

Happy at Home was excited to participate in the Pathways to Employment Program. We interviewed many candidates for our new Finance Admin role and were very impressed with Jessica. A recent graduate of Georgian College’s Medical Administration Program, Jessica was eager to put her skills to work, and we quickly saw the potential to train her in finance. Jessica met the criteria and was so successful that we offered her a permanent full-time position within our finance department.

In these challenging times, the Orillia Area CDC has been influential in supporting our local home care agency, and we highly recommend the Pathways to Employment program.”

“My time with Happy at Home has been a wonderful experience. I’ve learned a lot about home health care and working in the finance department, which turns out I really enjoy. Before coming into Happy at Home, I didn’t know much about finance, but I love learning about it and gaining as much experience as I can. Some of the challenges I have faced are learning new things such as QuickBooks, but with the help of the excellent team I was able to adapt and learn as I go.

This work experience has allowed me to grow in confidence and achieve success by giving me ample hands-on experience learning about home health care, and an extensive amount regarding finance and working as part of a finance team. The vast amount of information I’ve learned and will continue to learn is the greatest accomplishment I’ve achieved. I work for a great team that have become like family and I look forward to continuing to grow my career with Happy at Home.

I would most certainly recommend this program to all of my friends/ family. The CDC has been very supportive in helping with training and providing additional benefits. The continued support from Katie has been wonderful! All around greatly beneficial.

Thank you to everyone at the CDC and Service Canada for providing this program to youth, especially in such trying times. Without this program, I may have not been able to start my career and gain such a valuable experience. Also, a big thank you to Happy at Home for bringing me on as part of the team and giving me this amazing opportunity.”
