The final deadline for local businesses qualifying for the Business Retention and Expansion survey ticket draw is closing in.

Feb. 26 will be the last day to qualify for a draw to win a pair of passes to attend Lonestar or ZZ Top concerts, courtesy of Casino Rama.

“Our goal is to better understand what it’s like to do business in our communities. We want to provide reliable information to councils and organizations so that meaningful planning decisions can be made,” said Wendy Timpano, General Manager of the Orillia and Area Community Development Corporation (CDC). “This is a great opportunity for business owners to present their concerns in an anonymous survey.”

According to survey participant Dean Beers, of Orillia Floor Fashions, “I felt like my input was being heard. I believe that by getting involved, I have greater influence on the future business environment.”

The CDC would like to hear from businesses in the townships of Oro-Medonte, Ramara and Severn, as well as businesses from Orillia and Rama First Nation.

The BR+E survey is a joint project, led by the CDC in partnership with the City of Orillia, the townships of Ramara, Oro-Medonte and Severn, Rama First Nation and the County of Simcoe. The project also receives funding and technical support from the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.

Survey results will be analyzed and presented to local councils and the public this spring.

To get involved, and for a chance to win a pair of tickets, contact Gary Staines, BR+E Co-ordinator, at 705-325-4903, ext. 114, or [email protected].
