James Foy loves to work with his hands and, even when he was busy with the demands of work, found time to dabble in landscaping.

Recently, he decided to marry that passion with his long-held desire to start his own business. With financial help from the Orillia Area Community Development Corporation (CDC), he opened All In Home and Yard, offering a range of services to customers throughout the region.

“I did some research and determined what type of services are needed in the community,” said Foy. “What I discovered is that elderly people, single parents, people with disabilities and people who are busy need the type of professional but affordable services I offer.”

Those services include yard maintenance, snow removal, lawn and garden care, interior and exterior house cleaning, rubbish and junk removal, limb removal, eaves-trough cleaning and many other hands-on chores.

All In Home and Yard is not only capable of a wide range of jobs for a wide range of both residential and commercial customers, it is licensed and insured to handle jobs big and small. And, thanks to the CDC, it’s fully equipped.

“I needed to purchase a three-tonne truck for maintenance and junk removal and the CDC was able to help me financially,” said Foy. “They were absolutely key to me starting my business and I wouldn’t hesitate to call them if I needed some advice or assistance. I wouldn’t be where I am today without their help.”

And where is he today? He’s busy and on the cusp of hiring an employee to help keep up with demand.

“I think what sets me apart is I’m professional, I pay attention to detail, I go above and beyond what the customer wants and I’m affordable,” said Foy, who also offers a service in which he will handle the enormous task of cleaning out a person’s home or estate in the wake of a death, divorce or downsizing. “I don’t ask for an invoice to be paid until the customer is satisfied.”
