The Orillia Area Community Development Corporation (CDC) is accepting grant applications for the Community Capacity Building Fund.
The CDC has $20,000 to invest in projects and would like to maximize impact by funding a variety of projects in both for-profit businesses and non-profit organizations/social enterprises.
The intent of the funding is to strengthen communities by supporting projects that are incremental, address local needs and priorities and result in long-term benefits including job creation, economic diversification and enhanced business competitiveness.
Eligible activities are not limited to but may include the following:
- Skills development and training including training for entrepreneurs, managers, employees, youth or volunteers; training must support growth and sustainability in the organization or business or impact the employability of the trainees;
- Marketing and awareness-raising initiatives;
- Succession planning;
- Purchase of equipment to enhance service delivery;
- Website development or upgrades.
Eligible recipients must be located in the City of Orillia, the townships of Oro-Medonte, Ramara or Severn, or Chippewas of Rama First Nation and must be structured as a non-profit organization (including municipalities) or a for- profit business (sole proprietor, partnership or corporation) — either existing or start-up entity — or a social enterprise.
To apply, visit orilliacdc.com or contact community development coordinator Carol Benedetti at 705-325-4903, ext.103, or [email protected].
It is strongly recommended applicants contact the CDC before submitting an application. Application deadline is 4 p.m. Oct. 20.
