CDC funding helps local businesses grow, expand
In late 2021, the Orillia Area CDC ‘s Community Capacity Building Fund approved $26,500 in grants to support local projects that improve opportunities for growth and/or success within an organization/business.
Of the 42 applications submitted, 12 businesses rose to the top. Proposals showcased projects that are collaborative, innovative, and address local needs and priorities, resulting in long term benefits including job creation, economic diversification, and enhanced business competitiveness. Many of these projects are in now progress or have already been completed.
One of the recipients is Quayles Brewery, a young local brewery located in Oro-Medonte that offers food and farm fresh beer, using hops from their own farm... Owner, Catherine Pearson, was looking to expand by extending the outdoor season. “The CDC grant has helped subsidize a new 60’ tubular heater we installed in our outdoor event space in our Beer Garden. In 2022, this heater will help keep our guests warm, especially during the cooler shoulder months in the spring and fall,” said Pearson.

Pathways to Employment Youth Success Story
Pathways to Employment Youth Success Story from Kellie Shroeder, HR Training & Development Coordinator with Next Gen Hub Inc. Safety Training and Consulting:
"After completing my schooling in 2020, I struggled finding a career during a global pandemic. I was applying to every job related to HR without hearing anything, not even a rejection notice. I was starting to give up on finding something in my chosen field when I learned about this program.
Pathways to employment is an amazing opportunity to help youth gain experience and provide the necessary support and connections needed to become successful. If it wasn’t for Katie, her support and enthusiasm, I don’t believe I would have found something as perfect for me and my career goals.
Next Gen Hub Inc. Safety Training and Consulting is the perfect fit for me! I belong to an amazing team - a team that has truly allowed me to grow and learn in the best possible atmosphere. I regularly suggest this program to people I know and explain what a great opportunity it is and how it supports our community and provides the support needed to its participants. I look forward to growing my professional abilities with Next Gen Hub Inc. Safety Training and Consulting and can’t wait to see all the opportunities that will come with it!"
