Increasing Sales Through Export Markets

By:  Wendy Timpano, General Manager, Orillia Community Development Corp.

Orillia/November 7, 2011 - Have you ever thought about exporting to increase sales?  Have you ever wondered how to find customers in export markets that are right for your company?  With the help of the County of Simcoe's Economic Development office, local businesses will have the opportunity to find out how.

The County, in partnership with local Community Futures Development offices, will be hosting a two-day, hands-on export training program that will see businesses walk away with a written export plan specific to their business, including a step-by-step action plan and cash flow forecast.  Post-event support will also be offered to participants.

"This is a great opportunity for businesses who think they could increase profits by selling their product or service beyond North America," said Robert Lamb, Manager of Economic Development for the County of Simcoe.  "And, no export experience is necessary to take part."

The program is participant-centred, highly interactive, and focused on delivering measurable results such as increased export sales, profitability, and competitiveness.  Ideal participants are managers and/or owners from companies who are serious about increasing their abilty to compete and sell, both locally and internationally.

The program, which is developed and delivered by International Business Trainers, will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday Nov. 28 and Thursday Dec. 1 at the County of Simcoe administration building in Midhurst.  The cost to attend is only $50.
